Tune of the Week for 06/30/08 -- Duffy, Mercy
In case you were wondering, the White Sox just swept the Cubs in a three-game stretch played at home. Although we live exactly one mile north of Wrigley Field, we're Sox fans and are quite happy about this!
Anyway, here's another "Hetta Music" selection. Heather likes her because she sings in a genuine, slightly older style and not the breathy vocal lurching that is so often mistaken for singing these days.
Enjoy!

BTW, I like the tune... she has a nice simple, soulful style. None of that Christina Aguilera nonsense.
The only team I previously was ever a fan of in baseball was the Yankees, and that was up through high school and into college. My dad was/is a Yankees fan, and so I was, too. After I'd lived in Chicago for a few years, I began to gravitate towards Chicago teams. Early in the days of living here, I thought I could appreciate both of Chicago's baseball teams, but that's simply not possible. You find that out once you've lived here a while. It's one or the other.
I was never a real fan of either team until Heather began to follow the Sox part way into the 2004-05 season. She became a fan to the extent that she knows nearly all the players names, which is hilarious to me. Everything we've done in Chicago, aside from going to the Annual Turkish Festival, has been about me and what I like. So she became a Blackhawks fan, a Bears fan, a Bulls fan, etc. When she became a rabid fan of the Sox that year, I bought her a White Sox sweatshirt, and she literally cried. And I couldn't help but follow along with her fervor. So, it was Heather who did this to me, and I've had a great time being the follower for once. And so I HATE the frickin' Cubs just as much as she does (well, not quite as intensely, because she really, really hates them)!
Good to hear from you, bro. I've thought of you and your ever-growing family often since that last phone call. Cheers!
