A Hint of Things to Come...
...King's X! Yes! I've decided to do the King's X retrospective starting September 10th. To get a taste of them, I'm posting a very old video of theirs, back when Doug Pinnick (dUg), the bassist and usual lead singer was still playing his 12-STRING BASS. If you look closely, you can see it in this video. It's what gives the bass such a full sound and allows him to back up the lead guitar without dubbing in other guitars. Three guys who all play and sing. Better even than another favorite three-member band of mine, Rush. Although they've been, as many have said, "criminally overlooked" by the mainstream.
This tune, "Over My Head," is one of their more well-known and is off their second album, Gretchen Goes to Nebraska. Enjoy!

Hey, did you ever hear the live version of this song? Might have been from their appearance at Woodstock ('94?)... where they totally blew everyone away with this number. dUg goes off on a rant about his Grandma and how hard she was on him growing up... telling him he'd go to hell if he didn't behave. It was actually kind of surprising (but good) to hear him open up like that to everyone.
