The Power and the Glory

This book literally changed my life. Written by a great Catholic author, Graham Greene, the book really brings out the humanity of the main character (who eventually becomes a martyr). This book made me want to be a Christian.

Death of a Salesman

This play is amazing. I've seen the play and read the book many times. Arthur Miller was a genius. He wrote the entire story in a few days and had an incredible insight into mankind.

Out of the Silent Planet (Space Trilogy, Book One)

I read this a couple of years ago. It's a fabulous telling of the Christian story of redemption, ala outer space. I'm not a huge fan of C.S. Lewis, but I really enjoyed this one.

I read this book at the behest of my wife. I enjoyed it for the most part. Some of it seems to drag a bit. If you've ever had to be in sales (and didn't like it), you'll enjoy this.

Brave New World

Holy cow! Have you read this book? Talk about an indictment of modern society! Everybody's addicted (by order of law) to anti-depressants, nobody makes babies the natural way (they're all made in test tubes), and the concept of the family is considered primitive. This is one of my favorite books of all time.

I read this book for fun. I liked it because I love fiction noir. If you like Casablanca or anything starring Humphrey Bogart, you'll love this book. Quick read.

I've never seen this play. I've only read it. Pretty depressing, although I can understand it's presentation of the silence (or complete absence) of God.

Self Improvement

This was written in the 1940s, so its psychology is a bit outdated. The author is also quite wordy. What I enjoyed about the book was his development of the book's main premise, which was that you can change your personality. He goes far beyond the mere notion of improving yourself; he actually suggests that you can change yourself. He also offers a lot of practical insights into human behavior. You'll definitely find yourself in his descriptions.

Fundamentalism and American Culture

This is the last book I have completed. I read a bunch of other things while reading it because it's incredibly dry. But I'm a product of American fundamentalism, so it's subject interests me greatly. George Marsden is a clear, even-handed writer.
